This church was organized in 1916 and approximately
five years later, it was moved into a new facility
constructed in a generally undeveloped area.
During the 1920s, typical middle-class homes
were constructed in the immediate area of the church
building.
The building boom of the 1950s expanded to include
middle-class and upper middle-class homes and the
Church rapidly expanded.
Through the 1960s and 1970s, the membership was
dispersed as people moved to new subdivisions in the
adjoining communities.
In the 1980s and 1990s, young families began
buying in the vicinity, improving home conditions and
rejuvenating the energy level of the neighborhood.
Cuyahoga Falls, Stow and the surrounding communities
provide a good atmosphere in which to live.
With Akron five miles away and Cleveland
twenty-five miles away, many cultural, educational,
social and recreational opportunities are available.
Two major Division I universities, Kent State
University and the University of Akron are within 15
minutes of the church.
Other universities in Northeast Ohio include
Hiram College, Cleveland State University, Case
Western Reserve University, Mount Union College, Walsh
University, and several community colleges.
The Civic Theater and E.J. Thomas Hall in Akron,
Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, and Playhouse
Square in Cleveland are just some of the cultural
centers where national touring groups perform plays,
symphonies, ballets and Broadway musicals.
Called the Hall of Fame corridor, Akron is home
to the National Inventor’s Hall of Fame; Canton houses
the National Football Hall of Fame; and Cleveland has
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
All three cities have museums including the
Akron Art Museum, the Great Lakes Science Center, and
Museum of Natural History in Cleveland.
Stow, Cuyahoga Falls, and Akron all have
nationally recognized library systems in new
facilities.
Cuyahoga Falls offers some of the best parks and
recreation programs in the area.
Each neighborhood has its own park with summer
pools provided for children under nine.
Water Works Park is a beautiful summer family
aquatic center and the Natatorium provides a facility
for year-round swimming and fitness activities.
The Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Towpath
Trails, Metro Bike Trails, and the Akron Metro Park
system provide a great deal of hiking, picnicking,
swimming and other forms of recreation.
Skiing is also nearby.
The Cleveland/Akron/Canton corridor is the fifteenth
largest metropolitan media market in the nation.
Several Cleveland stations provide extensive
news coverage of the Cuyahoga Falls area, but PAX
TV-23 is our Akron based station. The Akron Beacon Journal is published
daily and the Record Publishing Co. issues weekly
local papers.
Several radio stations of all types are also
available.
Akron supports three major shopping malls as well as
many other shopping districts.
Chapel Hill Mall and Plaza are within five
minutes of the Church. The famous Strickland’s ice cream just
opened a new store around the corner.
The region is noted for a plethora of fine
restaurants and places of entertainment.
Many professional sports are also found in Northeast
Ohio. The
Cleveland Indians baseball team, the Browns football
team, the Cavaliers basketball team, the Rockers
women’s’ basketball team, all play in downtown
Cleveland in beautiful facilities that were all
rebuilt with in the last nine years.
Professional hockey and soccer teams are also
nearby.
The Cleveland Indians AA baseball team, Akron Aeros,
play in downtown Akron at a newly built ballpark.
Active Little League programs and YMCA teams
provide opportunities for youth.
Cuyahoga Falls has its own hospital and Akron has
three major hospitals as well as its nationally
recognized Children’s Hospital.
The Cleveland Clinic is recognized worldwide.
Many foreign dignitaries, celebrities, and
politicians come from all over to receive medical care
at that facility.
The local police and fire departments provide
care and paramedic services.
Civic pride is evident in the revitalization of
downtown Cuyahoga Falls and Akron.
Each city has undergone much renovation and
renewal, providing all citizens with many
opportunities in education, recreation, entertainment
and job opportunities.
