 The Vision Statement

of the

United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

Our vision, Our ideal,

Our belief in what God is challenging us to be.

Our congregation reaches out to embrace the surrounding community while holding fast to those within our fold. UPC is actively and visibly involved in the lives of those within the community of which we are a part. We are a respected institution within our city. Frequent programs are held that minister to identified needs. The community is aware of the caring spirit of UPC and its efforts to generously assist those in need.  The members of UPC work unceasingly to bring the unchurched into the fold, especially targeting young adults, with and without families. Visitors to UPC find a welcoming spirit, an attractive facility and an active membership.

Our building is filled with the sounds of children, youth and their families and vibrates with their active participation. The members of UPC are family to each other. We are constantly challenged to meet the ever-changing need for new Sunday School classes and small groups. Participants are enthusiastic to learn about Jesus though the Word of God and are on-fire to share it with others.

The Holy Spirit is alive and free flowing throughout the congregation as a body and each member as an individual. Because the Holy Spirit leads our lives, we love one another as Christians, care for each other’s needs, extend and receive forgiveness and welcome all equally.  An active system of calling, caring and prayer support assures the needs of those who are ill, shut-in or inactive are ministered to. The congregation is blessed with a spirit of encouragement. Gifts are recognized, nurtured and utilized so that all find their place within the body of Christ. The many involved in leadership are continually learning and developing skills and methods so that they may better serve the Church and its members. The pastor provides opportunities for leadership development and actively encourages its growth. The congregation supports all aspects of the church and generously provides the resources necessary for the ministry of UPC.

Worship at UPC is vibrant, exciting and inspirational. Voices are lifted up to God in song and hymn with energy and enthusiasm. The music program flourishes with many active participants. Several types of worship are embraced and supported. Sermons are challenging, thought provoking and inspire the congregation to Christian service. Worshipers hear and obey the call of God in their lives.

Christ-centered believers at UPC are led by the Holy Spirit to be welcoming, nurturing, faithful, evangelistic, loving people who actively seek God’s presence in their daily lives and humbly serve in response to God’s grace.
