Working with the choir director and the pastor, Terry provides meaningful music during church service (including preludes and postludes), and accompanies the cathedral choir, soloist/special music, at rehearsals and performances. Education: Terry is a graduate of Elizabethtown High School, Elizabethtown, PA., a graduate of Westminster Choir College, Princeton NJ, with a Bachelor of Music in organ, Summa Cum Laude, and a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College - Conservatory of Music with a Masters of Music in organ. Terry brings to UPC a wealth of experience in the role as organist and as a director of music in many church settings. Terry has been a teacher of piano and voice for many years, and has been an organ recitalist and vocal soloist as well. Terry lives in Fairlawn with her husband Karl, who is also an organist and director of music. Terry’s other interest and hobbies are reading, swimming and sewing. Terry, how would you describe UPC to some who has never attended or who been away for a while? “I would describe UPC as a large, happy family of friendly people. Some are demonstrative and some are not, but all the members and their children are kind and thoughtful people. When my dad died, many, including some whose faces I didn’t know, sent cards and prayed. This congregation has a long history of service to the community (soup lunch, food pantry, and many other programs). It also has a history of biblical preaching, which under Pastor Ross’s leadership, is continuing. I would describe UPC as a church with a message of love.” Terry, what are your favorite programs or activities at UPC? “Somewhat naturally, my favorite activities at UPC are worship services and choir rehearsals. I’ve also enjoyed being part of the Wayfarers Sunday School class, and working with them on service projects.” Terry, what is your favorite Bible passage? I have two: “Psalm 8, and Philippians 2:5-11. |
